From the Principal’s Desk

Proverbs 29:1-2 He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing. When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

It is fair to say that there has been some draPagiel at deskstic changes in Zimbabwe from the 13th November 2017 (when the army general issued a statement to the nation) to yesterday (21st November 2017) when President Robert Mugabe resigned! What has been amazing about the transition from a Robert Mugabe era to a new era is the sweet release of joy from a groaning people who poured out onto the streets. A people that had been on the receiving end of some bad governance and the effects of living in a corrupt nation.

The area of leadership is very close to our hearts at HTC as it can shape the destiny of a nation or an institution. Most of our students are leaders – they have influence on people. So it will be interesting to see how the events that started unfolding on the early morning of 15th November when we woke up to the army addressing us on all state radio stations and the state television station will affect them and how they will lead having gone through such a situation!

The temptation is to be carried away by all the euphoria and hope that we as a nation will get the best government in the world. As spiritual leaders however, we hope that this will be a time to give people an eternal perspective on what matters in the long run and who we should place our trust in.

May this be the start of a prosperous era for Zimbabwe and its people and may they be an example of good governance and nation building going forward!

Psalm 20: 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
